In my character design class I took with Jake Parker way back in early 2011, we redesigned characters from a bunch of things. Our main themes through the class were Star Wars, Harry Potter, or The Hobbit. I chose to focus on The Hobbit. I think I have improved since this class and want to redo these at some point, but I'm still decently pleased with them.
From left to right we have Gandalf, Elrond, Bilbo, and Gollum.
And then Smaug with the rest to show size differences. I like that dragon!
